French First Lady Enjoys Visit to Borobudur Temple
French First Lady Brigitte Macron visited Borobudur Temple during a state visit to Indonesia, Thursday (29/5/2025). The visit under the Spouse program to one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites is an effort to strengthen cultural and tourism ties between Indonesia and France.
French First Lady Brigitte Macron arrives at the Borobudur TWC Unit Office before going up to Borobudur Temple ahead of the arrival of the French President. The French First Lady's entourage was welcomed by President Prabowo Subianto's son Didit Hediprasetyo and the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia Widiyanti Putri Wardhana.
Here, Brigitte Macron toured cultural heritage sites and climbed Borobudur Temple. The visit underlined the importance of cultural diplomacy and tourism as key pillars in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and France.
The visit to Borobudur Temple underlines France's appreciation of Indonesia's internationally recognized cultural heritage. Built in the 8th century by the Syailendra Dynasty, Borobudur Temple is an architectural and spiritual masterpiece that blends art, history and tradition in glorious harmony.
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana expressed her pride in accompanying First Lady Brigitte Macron on this visit. She emphasized that this activity is not only to promote Indonesian tourist destinations, but also to strengthen relations between countries that respect each other's cultural diversity.
