We want to make MJM a national sports tourism benchmark that brings economic, social, and cultural values at the same time," said Darmawan on the sidelines of the MJM event in Prambanan, Sunday (22/6).
Mandiri Institute's internal research noted that during the week of MJM, there was a surge in economic activity in Yogyakarta. Bank Mandiri shows a strong commitment to encouraging the green movement through the implementation of Mandiri Jogja Marathon 2025. In the event held on June 22, Bank Mandiri launched the “Mandiri Looping for Life” program, which aims to strengthen the sustainability principle in various aspects of its operations. This initiative is part of the company's strategy to implement the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles more effectively.
The Mandiri Looping for Life program carries a creative approach to waste management, especially textile and plastic waste. One innovation that has attracted attention is the production of shoe bags from recycled used clothing. A total of 1.000 pouch units were produced, which are believed to be able to save around 1,35 million liters of water and reduce carbon emissions by up to 5.000 kilograms of CO₂. This is equivalent to the carbon emissions produced by vehicles that travel more than 20.000 kilometers.
All interior elements in the Mandiri Jogja Marathon event were also designed with sustainability in mind. Tables, chairs, and event backdrops were produced from 206 kilograms of recycled plastic waste. This managed to reduce the carbon footprint by 412 kilograms of CO₂, and involved collaboration with the scavenger community to raise support and provide additional income opportunities.
This is in line with the management of the Prambanan Temple Tourism Park destination by InJourney Destination Management as one of the green open space loci that pay attention to carbon emissions and the use of clean and renewable energy. The Prambanan Temple Tourism Park destination has also managed its organic waste into compost that is reused to fertilize plants on its land.
One of the main attractions of MJM 2025 is the presence of Race Village which is located in the Brahmana field, Prambanan Temple Tourism Park.
