InJourney Presents Harmonious Fusion of World Heritage Music and Culture through Prambanan Jazz Festival 2025

The lively melody and culture at the Prambanan Temple World Heritage site echoed again at the Prambanan Jazz Festival. Entering its 11th anniversary, the Prambanan Jazz Festival (PJF) 2025 echoed the theme of Eleven Harmonies as a confirmation of its position as one of the music concerts that not only has the most beautiful background in the world, but also has a substantial and meaningful impact, both in the arts and culture sector and the local economy.

Prambanan Jazz Festival 2025, which took place from 4-6 July 2025, was attended by around 65 thousand spectators, both domestic and international. The presence of international musicians such as EAJ for two consecutive days was highly anticipated by the younger generation of K-Pop fans. Meanwhile, the appearance of world jazz icon Kenny G on the last day was awaited by seniors and seasoned jazz fans of his legendary songs.

Not to be missed, top domestic musicians such as Dewa 19, Ari Lasso, Gigi, Raisa, Kahitna, Bernadya, Nadin Amizah, Kunto Aji, Gigi, Panbers, Tulus, JKT 48, Maliq & D'Essentials, Ardhito Pramono, Yura Yunita, Pamungkas, Dere, Karimata, Ebiet G. Ade and others became hosts who celebrated the roar of the country's music.

In addition, the installation art program in collaboration with the Yogyakarta artist duo, Indieguerillas, featured an art installation inspired by the Tree of Life (kalpataru) relief on the Prambanan Temple relief. Creative initiative programs such as #BerkainKePJF and the involvement of dozens of MSME actors at the UMKM Market, prove that the preservation of cultural heritage can go hand in hand with the creative industry that supports improving community welfare.

One of the international jazz veterans, Kenny G, expressed his admiration for the eleven years of the 2025 Prambanan Jazz Festival. According to him, this jazz event was one of the most memorable events for him, especially with the magnificent view of Prambanan Temple as the backdrop for the performance.

"Many beautiful memories are very touring, and here is one of the best. We will not forget Prambanan Temple. This is one of the unforgettable experiences. The amazing background of the temple, becomes one of the very unique performances. We can't get a view like this anywhere else," he explained in the courtyard of Prambanan Temple, Sunday (6/7/2025).

"The Prambanan Jazz Festival not only features musical performances from world-class musicians, but also emphasizes the strategic role of local arts and culture and is supported by the beauty of Indonesia's cultural heritage as an arena for inclusive cultural diplomacy that has a real impact on society," explained InJourney Destination Management President Director Febrina Intan in Yogyakarta, Sunday (6/7/2025).

InJourney Destination Management recorded the number of PJF 2025 viewers at 76 thousand viewers, an increase of 55 percent from the PJF 2024 viewers of 49 thousand visitors. Meanwhile, around 70 percent of the visitors came from outside Yogyakarta. The increase in hotel occupancy, transportation tickets to Yogyakarta, the density of several roads around Prambanan, the bustling online transportation transactions, and the surge in local culinary shops are evidence of the significant influence of PJF 2025.

"We are grateful, this year's Prambanan Jazz Festival has had an extraordinary impact. This is not only a music stage, but also a people's economic stage. Many MSMEs are smiling because their sales have increased, many local drivers are taking the audience back to their hotels happily. This wave of audiences presents a domino effect that is really felt on the pulse of the local economy," added Febrina.

Febrina also said that the continuation of this festival is not only an achievement, but also a reflection of a shared commitment to presenting creative experience which is meaningful. This makes Prambanan known not only as a historical monument, but also a meeting place for cross-national cultures.

The state-owned aviation and tourism holding company, PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), or InJourney, through its InJourney Destination Management, ensures that all events are conducted with conservation principles in mind. The main cultural heritage zones remain protected, crowd management is implemented, and the tourist experience for regular visitors continues unimpeded.

InJourney's President Director, Maya Watono, said that Prambanan Jazz is one of the international music festivals that has played a strategic role as a catalyst in the development of tourism destinations, especially in the areas of Central Java and Yogyakarta. Moreover, this event is not only a strong magnet for domestic and foreign tourists, but also supports the increase in visits to Yogyakarta and Central Java.

"The impact is also very large on the local economic cycle, especially in creating multiply effect significant for the MSME industry and businesses in the local tourism ecosystem. This will certainly have an impact on driving national economic growth," concluded Maya.

Prambanan Jazz Festival 2025 not only celebrates music, but also strengthens Prambanan Temple's position as a space for world cultural dialogue. Amidst the onslaught of modernity, this festival is proof that cultural heritage can remain relevant, alive, and become the foundation for a nation's civilization.
