IHH Kulon Progo Encourages Village Tourism Activists to Promote Local Hospitality

InJourney Destination Management, in collaboration with InJourney Airport, is presenting InJourney Hospitality House (IHH) training for tourism activists and MSMEs in Kulon Progo. The three-day training, from July 22–24, 2025, aims to provide authentic Indonesian hospitality to tourists visiting the area, impacting the local economy.

“This is a very good opportunity mindset "Ladies and gentlemen, Indonesian hospitality can be packaged in such a way as to develop the capacity of human resources, especially the community in the Borobudur area. It is hoped that tourism industry players can provide a more quality and engaging travel experience, attracting more tourists, and contributing to the revival of the local economy," explained InJourney Airport's CSR Evaluation and Performance Division Head at the opening of the event, which took place at Tinalah Tourism Village, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta.

The IHH training was attended by 120 participants, including tourism activists and MSMEs in the northern Kulon Progo region. The training prepared participants to welcome tourists by presenting authentic Indonesian hospitality as a foundation for implementing excellent service and achieving quality tourism. Participants received training on how to behave and communicate effectively in service. (hospitality communication).

In addition, participants were provided with disaster mitigation materials aimed at reducing disaster risk by improving their ability to respond to disaster threats and mitigate their impact. The materials provided by the Magelang Regency Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) are part of the preparedness of village-based tourism managers located in the Menoreh hills. 

The Head of Purwoharjo Village, Samigaluh, Ariwibowo, stated that his office has provided adequate facilities and infrastructure for Tinalah Tourism Village, which has been ranked among the top 50 best tourism villages in the 2021 Tourism Village Award (ADWI) from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

"Various government efforts are being made to meet tourist expectations, including information, facilities, comfort, and safety. This collaboration is symbiotic, mutually beneficial. It can't be done alone, while the other side can't do it alone. Everything is interconnected. output, the final result is for us all," he explained.

One of the training participants, Raden Rara Khairun Nisa (25), said the IHH training material was comprehensive and useful for her and other tourism practitioners. As one of the administrators of Banjarasri Tourism Village, also known as Dewi Asri, in Kalibawang District, Kulon Progo, the IHH training has been beneficial in providing hospitality that can attract tourists back.

"On the first day, we were taught how to educate guests and how to get them to come back to us. That was very useful, especially for tourism village administrators. On the third day, we were taught about K3, which is essential for tourism practitioners. We hope there will be more training like this, especially for tourism village administrators in northern Kulon Progo," he explained.

CSR and SME Funding Division Head IDM Ismiyati hopes that this activity can further revitalize friendly and local services in the region. 

"We hope that what we provide will be beneficial, improve services, and encourage visiting tourists to enjoy shopping in the village, thereby bringing benefits and prosperity to the community," he concluded.
