In a series of 45th Anniversary events, IDM presents the Dewa Ruci Shadow Puppet Show.
InJourney Destination Management held a Wayang Kulit performance featuring the Dewa Ruci play at Rakai Pikatan Field in Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Saturday (July 26, 7). This event, part of the 2025th anniversary celebrations of the Indonesian Children's Day (IDM), was held to preserve and nurture Javanese culture.
Puppeteers Ki Gading Pawukir and Ki Kiswan Dwinawaeka present a narrative of the Dewa Ruci story, rich with advice, ethics, and morals. Every element of the shadow puppet performance contains profound symbols and philosophical meaning.
In his remarks, IDM Director of Finance and Risk Management Joel Siahaan said that this event was in line with the tagline of IDM's 45th Anniversary celebration, namely Migunani Tumraping Liyan.
"Migunani Tumraping Liyan is our guideline, in line with social and ethical life. It reflects our dignity as human beings, measured by our contribution to the common good, not just our individual or collective well-being," he explained.
According to Joel Siahaan, the spirit of Migunani Tumraping Liyan is in harmony with the story of the Dewa Ruci play, where the main character in this puppet show is Bima who acts not only as a mighty knight who defends the truth, but also as a symbol of the inner journey towards true humanity.
"We hope this performance will inspire us both individually and as an organization. The story demonstrates our significance to those around us, not just as individuals, but as a group," he continued.
The performance, which began at 21.00:03.00 PM WIB and concluded at XNUMX:XNUMX AM WIB, was attended by hundreds of spectators from Yogyakarta and Central Java. The event was also enlivened by dozens of small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) vendors selling their wares around the area.
Joel Siahaan hopes that the Wayang Kulit performance with the Dewa Ruci play will not be just entertainment, but also a reflective space that stimulates thought and the heart to instill noble values that demonstrate usefulness to others.
"This teaches us to lead with conscience, serve with integrity, and bring about change rooted in spiritual depth, nobility, and morals for the sake of our shared life," he concluded.
