Collaborative Workshop for the Transformation of the TMII Regional Pavilion

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) collaborated with the Ministry of State Secretariat, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Tourism to hold a Collaborative Workshop on Governance, Promotion, and Program Design for Regional Pavilions at the Sasana Utama Building, TMII, Jakarta, on Thursday (August 21, 8). This workshop aimed to build synergy and integrate national policies across ministries for the transformation of Regional Pavilions.

The four objectives of this workshop are as a showcase of regional identity, second as a center of activity and collaboration, third as a strategic promotional instrument, and finally as a national and global bridge with the right, measurable, collaborative and synergistic start.

Indonesian Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia Setya Utama together with the President Director of InJourney Destination Management Febrina Intan and Acting President Director of TMII Ratri Paramita attended the opening of the workshop.

In his remarks, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon welcomed the workshop. He stated that it was a good opportunity for dialogue and discussion, especially regarding the Taman Mini pavilion, which is over 50 years old.

In front of more than 60 participants representing 34 pavilions attending the Sasono Utomo Building, TMII, he said that this is a commitment from the government under President Prabowo to make this culture the foundation of the nation in building identity.

"From my first day in office, I said we need to reinvent Indonesian identity. Because our identity is incredibly strong, rooted in culture and civilization. I've always emphasized two things: wealth and diversity," he said.

He mentioned the 1945 Constitution which is the basis of the constitution, namely Article 32, namely the State advances Indonesian national culture among world civilization, by guaranteeing society in maintaining and developing its cultural values.

"This was then translated into Law Number 5 of 2017 as cultural advancement. This cultural advancement includes protection, development, utilization, and guidance," said Fadli.

Fadli also stated that culture is the front window, the face of civilization. The civilizational journey of all nations, developed or not, is seen through culture. It is crucial as an engine for development. However, the most important wealth is cultural wealth, which he believes can become a cultural economy.

Setya Utama, Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia, expressed his highest appreciation to all stakeholders who have worked together to maintain and develop Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature). He noted that this synergy not only provides physical management of the area but also preserves cultural values, promotes local wisdom, and provides a learning space for the entire community.

"Through this collaborative workshop, we hope to formulate concrete steps to strengthen governance, expand promotion, and introduce higher-quality regional pavilion programs. This will further strengthen Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) as a unifying symbol of Indonesia's cultural diversity," he said.

Setya Utama reminded about the increasing challenges, especially in technological developments, tourism trends, and the needs of the younger generation who demand more adaptive, innovative, and modern management.

"Creative promotions, quality services, and increased relevant activities must continue to be developed, so that Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) will not only become a national cultural icon but also be able to compete with international tourist destinations," he continued.

Meanwhile, Acting President Director of TMII Ratri Paramita told the participants to make improvements.

"This workshop is a crucial moment for all of us. It will focus on how we formulate, collaborate, and receive direction from the Minister. How we formulate this together to make the pavilion even more beautiful and become a face for Indonesia," he said.

Also present at this activity were the Director of Infrastructure Facilities, Ministry of Creative Economy Fahmy Akmal, Assistant Deputy for Event Strategy, Ministry of Tourism Fransiskus Handoko, and Regional Secretaries of Provinces throughout Indonesia.
