Collaboration Promotes Sustainable Tourism at the Temple Park Tourism Destination

InJourney Destination Management Commercial Director Hetty Herawati together with Danone Indonesia's VP General Secretary, Vera Galuh Sugijanto, carried out the signing process for the cooperation agreement at Lalitavistara Resto, Borobudur Cultural Center, Borobudur Temple Tourism Park complex, Magelang, Central Java, Thursday (28/8/2025).

The collaboration between the world heritage destination management and the pioneering bottled water brand in Indonesia covers the scope of providing quality hydration for all visitors to the temple area, supporting cultural and arts activities in the temple area, sustainability through plastic waste ecosystem management and contributing to encouraging economic empowerment of the community around the temple tourist area.

Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Temples are cultural and tourism icons of Indonesia, recognized by UNESCO and recognized as world-class tourist destinations. Maintaining and developing the attractiveness of this cultural heritage requires multi-stakeholder collaboration, including the private sector as a strategic partner. 

This collaboration represents a commitment from both parties to preserving Indonesia's cultural heritage and realizing healthy, responsible, and sustainable tourism.

Through collaboration with AQUA as our healthy hydration partner, we can enrich visitors' travel experiences by providing healthy, comfortable, and sustainable tourism experiences. Danone Indonesia VP General Secretary Vera Galuh Sugijanto said that through this partnership, AQUA officially became IDM's healthy hydration partner with the scope of cooperation being the provision of quality hydration for all visitors to the temple area.

In addition, AQUA also provides support for cultural and arts activities in the temple area, sustainability through plastic waste ecosystem management and contributes to encouraging economic empowerment of communities around the temple tourist area.

"Through this collaboration, we hope to help realize responsible tourism and healthy, hydrated tourism, thereby expanding AQUA's positive impact in the tourism sector and cultural preservation. We believe that through synergy, we can build tourism that is not only enchanting, but also healthy, empowering, and makes the nation proud on the global stage," he explained.

In addition to ensuring the availability of quality hydration, AQUA is also committed to managing plastic waste generated from various tourist destinations participating in InJourney. Waste collected and sorted by IDM partners will enter AQUA's recycling ecosystem in Magelang to be reprocessed into raw materials for packaging bottles at AQUA's partner facility in Pasuruan, East Java. 

"This circular approach not only keeps tourists hydrated but also contributes to sustainable environmental preservation," continued Vera Galuh Sugijanto.
