IDM's Commitment to Supporting the Development of the Merah Putih Borobudur Village Cooperative
InJourney Destination Management, through its Environmental Social Responsibility program, held InJourney Hospitality House training for the administrators and members of the Borobudur Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDMP). The training, which took place from September 10-11, 2025, at the Balkondes Agro Eduwisata Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java, was presented to improve the quality of human resources through hospitality mindset training for tourism activists and business actors in the five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) areas, including Borobudur Temple.
Training batch The fourth training session in 2025 was attended by 60 participants, consisting of administrators and members of the Borobudur Community Empowerment and Development Agency (KPMD), using a combination of theory and practice. The training consisted of four main modules: professional service attitudes, communication in service (hospitality communication), product and environmental cleanliness, and a way of dressing that meets tourism standards.
The training also featured external speakers from the management of the Merah Putih Bentangan Village Cooperative in Klaten, a national pilot cooperative appointed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. IHH also invited representatives from the Magelang Regency Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises Office to provide technical guidance on the legality and future development of the cooperative.
Sustainability Division Head InJourney Destination Management Ismiyati said that the IHH training specifically for the administrators and members of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative is a form of support for the cooperative to continue to grow and develop its potential.
"We hope that KDMP can make a positive contribution, thereby creating a cooperative ecosystem that meets our expectations, developing local potential, and this training can increase capacity, professionalism, and sustainability," he explained.
Head of the Cooperatives Division of the Magelang Regency Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Service, Bambang Siswanto, thanked IDM for its role in developing the human resource potential of the administrators and members of the Merah Putih Borobudur Village Cooperative.
"We are grateful that other parties have contributed to the KDMP. Hopefully, with today's gathering, we can revive business units that will be developed in line with local potential. If the potential here is tourism, it certainly isn't far from tourism," he explained.
Borobudur Sub-district Head Subianto stated that two Merah Putih Village Cooperatives have already been established in his area: KDMP Borobudur and KDMP Candirejo. He encouraged the KDMPs to support the tourism ecosystem in Borobudur.
"Tourism service-based businesses require a lot of space and land that could potentially be used for business units, including parking lots, culinary opportunities, homestays, laundry services, and so on. Tourism is a big deal. It can't all be competitive, and it can't all be run independently. We must build a tourism atmosphere that we maintain together," he explained.
Meanwhile, Chairman Slamet Supriyanto stated that in this initial phase, he, along with the management, and supported by members, held a series of bazaars to introduce the cooperative to the Borobudur community. He also expressed his gratitude for IDM's support in human resource development and the renovation of the KDMP Borobudur office to support the cooperative's efforts.
"Going forward, we still need guidance and support from various parties to develop this KDMP. This training will certainly be very beneficial for the future development and advancement of the Merah Putih Borobudur Village Cooperative, so that we can achieve our shared aspirations," he said.
Meanwhile, IDM Operation & HSSE Group Head Leonardus Adityo Nugroho said that IDM as the manager of the Borobudur Temple area continues to support and has a full commitment to developing the Borobudur Temple area, through various activities, one of which is this IHH training.
"We play an active role in the development of both human resources and other resources in the Borobudur Temple area. We hope this training will provide added value and new knowledge for you all, enabling you to implement it in your daily lives and in your respective businesses," he concluded.
