InJourney Destination Management Wins “Winner of Innovation in Tourism & Cultural Heritage” Award at the 2025 IMT-GT Regional Business Excellence Awards

InJourney Destination Management (IDM), a subsidiary of the state-owned ecosystem and tourism holding company PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney, won an award Winner of Innovation in Tourism & Cultural Heritage in the prestigious Indonesia–Malaysia–Thailand event Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Regional Business Excellence Award (RBEA) 2025 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Friday (26/9/2025).

The award, which was received directly by Corporate Secretary Group Head of InJourney Destination Management Destantiana Nurina in the presence of business leaders, high-ranking government officials, and diplomats from IMT-GT member countries, is an international recognition of the company's contribution in the field of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.

"This award demonstrates our consistent approach to tourism management through innovation and cultural preservation. We don't just manage destinations, but also create meaningful experiences for tourists. IDM is ready to go further to make Indonesian tourism a global force while simultaneously safeguarding the archipelago's cultural identity," he explained. This award affirms IDM's role in developing innovation-based tourism, preserving cultural heritage, and ensuring quality experiences for tourists. This aligns with the ASEAN Action Roadmap for Sustainable Tourism Development in ASEAN, which outlines five key priority areas for ASEAN member countries to address: Sustainable Economic Growth, Social Inclusiveness, Resource Efficiency and Environmental Sustainability, Cultural Diversity and Heritage Protectionand Resilience Planning and Adaptation.

As is known, IDM currently manages Indonesian tourist destinations that represent domestic cultural heritage, such as Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, Ratu Boko Temple, and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). As a leading manager of tourist parks and cultural heritage sites in Indonesia, IDM has four main business pillars: Heritage, Culture, Amenities, and Attraction

IDM is committed to continuously focusing on improving the quality of tourism experiences, preserving culture, and innovating through digital services. IDM actively fosters cross-border collaboration through various programs, including: Twin World Heritage which promotes sustainable tourism through collaboration between countries with similar world heritage sites. On the other hand, IDM actively participates in agendas at regional and global levels. 

IDM hopes this award will help boost the regional tourism ecosystem through cross-border collaboration. This collaboration is expected to maximize tourism potential and increase competitiveness by aligning national policies with ASEAN's collective goals, ensuring quality, responsible, and sustainable tourism growth.

Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT), is Joint Business Council (JBC) which has been held since 1993. 2025 is the 31st year of the event and was held in Putrajaya, Malaysia on February 25-27, 2025. On February 27, 2025, IMT-GT also launched IMT-GT Business Excellence Awards 2025 (IMT-GT BEA).

IMT-GT Business Excellence Awards (IMT-GT BEA) 2025 aims to recognize leading companies in the ASEAN region for their contributions to innovation, leadership, and cross-border collaboration. The entire judging process is rigorous, independently audited, and certified by Baker Tilly, a trusted auditing body.

The award ceremony was also attended by Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusuf and Deputy Head of the Indonesian Representative Office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Danang Waskito, who expressed their appreciation for the spirit of regional collaboration in encouraging sustainable economic growth at the ASEAN regional level.

Along with that, Main Director of InJourney, Maya Watono expressed his gratitude for the public's trust in IDM as the manager of Indonesia's temple and cultural heritage areas. "This award also serves as concrete evidence of how the management of this temple area is... heritage destinations "We can accelerate Indonesian tourism onto the global stage through culture-based and inclusive tourism destination management," Maya said.
