Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports: Sports Events Bring Borobudur Closer to the Community
Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir stated that sporting events can bring Borobudur closer to the community. He made this statement after sending off half marathon runners at the 2025 Borobudur Marathon at Lumbini Park, Borobudur Temple Tourism Park complex, Magelang, Central Java, on Sunday (November 16, 2025).
"I've been at Borobudur for quite some time. Borobudur is a complex not only of culture but also of connecting with the community through events like sports and other tourism activities. Let's protect Borobudur," he explained.

IDM also presented a pre-event for the Borobudur Marathon, featuring a Shake Out Run and Yoga program at Borobudur on Saturday, November 15, 2025. In this pre-event, IDM tested a three-kilometer running route that circled the Taman Wisata Candi area and reached Dagi Hills. This route has the potential to become a regular track for tourists and local runners alike.
