IDM Welcomes First Tourists in 2026, Delivering Meaningful Travel Experiences

As part of the environmental commitment, the first visitors were invited to plant Bungur trees (Lagerstroemia speciosa) with the board of directors and management. The Bungur tree was chosen because it is a symbol of prosperity, fertility, and positive energy in Javanese tradition, and has long been part of the temple area's landscape.
In addition, visitors receive souvenir in the form of a scarf eco print featuring local leaf motifs such as Bungur and Bodhi leaves. Tourists also receive a Bungur tree seed packet to plant at home as a symbol of sustainability.
"The use of floral motifs in the temple reliefs reflects the destination's identity. We hope that the seeds tourists take home will grow into meaningful trees, just as we hope that every visitor's trip to our destination will be memorable and have a positive impact on the environment," he continued.

Darma, one of the first visitors to Ratu Boko Palace, said the welcome was a memorable experience. Not only was it his first visit to Ratu Boko, but it also provided a new and lasting experience.

Prambanan Temple recorded 174.798 visitors during the period of December 20–31, 2025. Peak visits to the Prambanan Temple Center occurred on December 27, 2025, with 19.617 visitors coming to enjoy the splendor of the iconic temple structure.
During the same period, Borobudur Temple Tourism Park recorded a total of 96.092 visitors. Peak attendance occurred on December 26, 2025, with 11.726 visitors.
Ratu Boko Palace, a destination offering a tranquil atmosphere and aesthetic views, attracted 8.978 visitors. Peak attendance occurred on December 28, 2025, with 1.052 visitors.
The performing arts sector in the Theater and Performance unit recorded a total attendance of 5.944. Interestingly, the peak appreciation for this traditional arts performance occurred on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, with an audience of 818 people. This demonstrates that the evening cultural attraction is a perfect complement to a tourist trip to the Prambanan area.
