TMII Holds Audience with Governor of DIY Regarding Plan to Revitalize the DIY Regional Pavilion

InJourney Destination Management (IDM) Operations Director Indung Purwita Jati, IDM Commercial Director Gistang Panutur and Acting President Director of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) Ratri Paramita met with the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X at Gedhong Gadri, Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta, Thursday (8/1/2026). This audience discussed the planning and implementation of the DIY Pavilion revitalization process at TMII to improve its function and role as a means of promoting DIY in Jakarta.

The revitalization of the DIY Pavilion is aimed at creating a representative exhibition space to showcase Yogyakarta's rich culture and potential to visitors to TMII. The agreement with the Yogyakarta Regional Government will be formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the near future.

TMII Acting President Director Ratri Paramita stated that her visit aimed to hold an audience and build understanding regarding the upcoming revitalization plan.

"In the future, the DIY pavilion will serve as a display space at Taman Mini and a promotional tool for DIY. "In the near future, we will (create) MOU"Maybe the construction will start soon after we have conceptualized it together," he explained.

Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X stated that TMII is not just a recreational space for the public, but also an exhibition and regional promotional space, and therefore requires support through ongoing renovation and revitalization. Furthermore, policy changes are a key consideration for a more structured and organized future design and operational process.

"I hope that the Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) will need an organizational structure that will allow for the creation of a space, with a team that is based on a Governor's Decree to manage the pavilion at Taman Mini for cultural purposes," explained the Governor of Yogyakarta.

The change in the role of local government in managing the pavilion at TMII is considered to enable budget planning as well as the packaging of exhibitions and promotions to be designed in a more focused and systematic manner from the start.

"This way, the budgeting process, what types of products should be exhibited, what should be promoted, and so on, will be more certain and can be designed from the start," Sri Sultan emphasized.

The Head of the Yogyakarta Cultural Agency (Kundha Kabudayan), Dian Lakshmi Pratiwi, added that the Yogyakarta Regional Government fully supports the revitalization concept. Although still in the potential exploration and challenge identification stages, the revitalization of the Yogyakarta pavilion is believed to have positive repercussions for the Yogyakarta cultural and tourism sectors.

"Conceptually, we agree that the DIY pavilion at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah will be our collective face, capable of providing mutual prosperity. It can elevate DIY's promotion and publicity to a higher level, and produce results that not only benefit Jakarta but also attract people from outside the city to visit Yogyakarta," he concluded.
