Moving Together for the Victims of the Sumatra Disaster

InJourney Destination Management also cares for the victims of the Sumatra hydrometeorological disaster by distributing humanitarian aid to disaster-affected communities in various affected areas. 

The aid is the result of fundraising from the Board of Directors and all InJourney Destination Management staff. This assistance is then provided in various forms to assist the recovery of the affected communities.

IDM's concrete action was also demonstrated by deploying a team of company volunteers to assist with post-disaster recovery. The team consisted of two batch, sent to Aceh Tamiang to assist in the recovery process, starting from cleaning up the community's main facilities and infrastructure as well as trauma healing for children.

"This assistance demonstrates our shared concern and commitment to helping the recovery of communities facing difficult times due to the flooding. We hope this support can expedite the recovery process in affected areas," explained IDM Operations Director Indung Purwita Jati while sending off the second batch of IDM volunteers at the IDM Headquarters Hall in Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Friday (January 9, 2026).

In the first batch, IDM volunteers distributed aid to Pante Kera Village, Simpang Jernih District, East Aceh Regency. The volunteer team traveled by boat for an eight-hour round trip.

Together with a team of volunteers from the InJourney Group, they worked together to clean the Special Needs School for Children (SLB Negeri Pembina Aceh Tamiang). The thick muddy conditions of the school made it quite difficult for the team to clean. 

Meanwhile, the IDM volunteer team batch both focus on distributing aid in Lintang City, District Kuala Simpang City, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province. The assistance provided included installing water filters, drilling wells, and normalizing footbathing facilities. septic tanks, cleaning public facilities such as mosques, kindergartens and Quran houses. 

In addition, volunteers also provide services trauma healing in Tampur Paloh in Simpang Jernih District, East Aceh Regency, Aceh province, Indonesia. 

"It's caring that drives recovery. We hope this joint effort can ease the burden on our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster. Hopefully, this will strengthen them during this difficult time," he explained.
