To Support Post-Disaster Recovery in Sumatra, InJourney Continues to Deploy Volunteers and Restore the Economy Through Assistance for Local MSMEs
State-owned aviation and tourism holding company PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) has again distributed disaster relief aid to victims of floods and landslides in Sumatra. This time, the assistance focused on post-disaster recovery. InJourney's assistance included 4 tons of logistics, support for 24 MSMEs through business equipment and raw materials, and the deployment of 44 volunteers from InJourney Airports, InJourney Destination Management, and InJourney Aviation Services.
The aid distribution took place symbolically in Aceh Tamiang on Wednesday, January 15, 2026. The event featured the symbolic handover of a fishing boat to Bedari Village to support school and community activities. Ovens, mixers, and door-splitting equipment were also donated to MSMEs.
"Through the InJourney Care program, we ensure that assistance doesn't stop at the emergency response phase, but continues throughout recovery. At this stage, we are distributing logistics, mobilizing 44 volunteers across InJourney entities, and strengthening the economic recovery of residents by providing equipment and raw materials for 24 MSMEs so they can resume operations. We are also promoting healthcare services, psychosocial support (LDP), and environmental recovery so that affected communities can return to their activities safely, healthily, and productively," said InJourney's Director of Human Resources and Digital, Herdy Harman.
Since the floods and landslides that struck North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Padang, InJourney has been a constant presence to assist with disaster management. As the post-disaster recovery process continues, InJourney continues to ensure recovery and help revive the economy in affected areas in Sumatra.
InJourney's assistance is currently focused on post-disaster recovery. First, it focuses on the distribution of relief logistics, aimed at ensuring that affected communities can meet their daily needs during the initial phase of post-flood recovery. Second, it provides assistance to MSMEs as a form of support for economic recovery. This assistance includes business equipment and raw materials to enable MSMEs to resume operations and stimulate the local economy.
Third, assistance in the form of health services and trauma healing. This assistance is provided in the form of basic health check-ups and treatment, as well as psychosocial support by medical personnel to maintain physical health and support the mental recovery of post-disaster communities. Finally, assistance is provided in the form of environmental and public facility restoration activities. These activities include cleaning public facilities and the flood-affected environment to restore public spaces and support the recovery of community social activities.
On that occasion, volunteers also successfully revitalized 24 wells belonging to residents that had previously been rendered unusable due to hardened mud. Through a gradual cleaning and repair process, the wells were restored to function and can now be used to meet the community's clean water needs, while also helping restore daily activities for residents after the disaster.
"InJourney hopes that all assistance will help support the recovery of community activities and the local economy. Through collaboration with local governments and partners, InJourney hopes the assistance provided will be well-targeted and have a direct impact on post-disaster recovery," concluded Herdy Harman.
