Encouraging Younger Generation's Environmental Awareness in the Prambanan TWC Area

Hundreds of students from Kalasan 1 High School participated in a tree-planting and fruit-bearing environmental outreach program at the Prambanan Temple Tourism Park in Klaten on Monday (January 30, 2026). The event was part of an outdoor learning program aimed at preserving the environment at the Prambanan Temple Compounds, a world heritage site.

Students from Kalasan 1 High School planted shade and fruit trees around Bubrah Temple in Prambanan, Klaten. Hundreds of students also cleaned the area around Bubrah Temple, Sewu Temple, and Lumbung Temple, within the Prambanan Temple Tourism Park.

The Principal of SMA I Kalasan, Lucia Wirastuti Kindarsih, said that this activity was part of the implementation of the Adiwiyata school which emphasizes sustainable programs to increase environmental awareness.

"We're taking our students to Prambanan Temple Tourism Park as part of our environmental awareness program. Furthermore, we hope this activity will also bring the younger generation closer to our cultural heritage," he explained.

Implementing quality tourism values ​​by presenting destinations that are not just places to enjoy themselves with various fun activities, but also educational resources, including raising awareness of environmental conservation.

This step was taken by InJourney Destination Management together with SMA I Kalasan to participate in creating a beautiful and comfortable destination for tourists.

As a supporting zone for world cultural heritage, the Prambanan Temple Park plays a crucial role in preserving the main area of ​​Prambanan Temple. Maintaining environmental sustainability within the area is one of the values ​​it must uphold.

"The activities of the parents and students of SMA I Kalasan are concrete evidence of our concern for world cultural heritage," said General Manager of the Prambanan and Ratu Boko TWC Unit, Ratno Timur.

Meanwhile, one of the participants in the action, Nafi Aisyah Quratu'aini, said that she was impressed by the activity that combined environmental awareness and tourism.

"Hopefully this activity can continue, and of course it is hoped that it can participate in preserving the environment in the Prambanan Temple area," said the XE7 class student.
