InJourney Destination Management Strengthens Hospitality Culture through InJourney Hospitality House in Kalasan, Sleman

InJourney Destination Management (IDM) presents the InJourney Hospitality House program for 60 tourism actors from Tamanmartani, Selomartani, and Tirtomartani Villages, Kalasan District, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

The three-day training, from May 19–21, 2026, represents IDM's commitment to improving the quality of tourism services through local hospitality while strengthening the readiness of the Prambanan Temple buffer destinations to welcome domestic and international tourists.

These social and environmental responsibility activities are designed in a measurable and sustainable manner to increase public understanding of hospitality standards (hospitality) as one of the main foundations in developing quality tourist destinations.

Indung Purwita Jati, Director of Operations at InJourney Destination Management, said that InJourney Hospitality House is one of the company's contributions to strengthening the capacity of communities around the destinations it manages.

"This training is part of our commitment to providing measurable, targeted CSR programs that provide tangible benefits to the community. Through this, we strive to introduce and strengthen hospitality standards for tourism operators and communities surrounding destinations," he explained.

According to Indung, a strong service culture is a crucial factor in creating a memorable tourism experience. Therefore, this program focuses not only on improving service skills but also on fostering a shared awareness of the importance of hospitality in the tourism ecosystem.

"We want to build a culture of friendly, professional, and memorable service for every tourist visiting the Prambanan area and its surroundings. This program plays a crucial and strategic role in supporting the development of an inclusive and sustainable tourism ecosystem. We invite all elements of society to collaborate to strengthen the values of hospitality and create a safe, comfortable, and memorable tourism experience," he added.

He hopes that improving the quality of services at tourist destinations in the Tamanmartani, Selomartani, and Tirtomartani areas, Kalasan District, Sleman, can encourage more tourists to explore the supporting destinations around Prambanan Temple.

"With increasingly better and friendlier service, we hope this area will become increasingly well-known and popular with both domestic and international tourists, thus positively impacting economic growth and community well-being," he said.

Tamanmartani Village Head Gandang Hardjanata welcomed the program's implementation. He stated that Kalasan holds a strategic position in the development of tourism in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, as it is located in the eastern region, which has long been a key corridor for cultural tourism and world heritage sites.

"Kalasan is a tourist area with significant potential for development. The presence of leading destinations like Prambanan is a key driver that can benefit the surrounding community. Therefore, tourism development cannot focus solely on the core area but must also revitalize the surrounding buffer zones," said Gandang.

He assessed that the approach taken by IDM through InJourney Hospitality House was a real form of collaboration between destination managers and the community.

"Now the focus has shifted to how tourism can grow together with the community. What IDM is doing through this program is a form of shared benefits. When tourists visit Prambanan, they don't stop at one location but are also encouraged to explore the tourism potential of the surrounding area. Therefore, the quality of service and the tourist experience must be continuously improved," he explained.

Meanwhile, Head of Marketing of the Sleman Regency Tourism Office, Kus Endarto, emphasized that the success of a tourist destination today is not only determined by its attractions, but also by the quality of service provided to tourists.

"Prambanan is a huge tourist attraction. However, the capacity of a major destination is certainly limited. The surrounding area offers many other potential tourist attractions that offer unique experiences and could thrive if supported by professional human resources. Therefore, strengthening community capacity, such as that implemented through InJourney Hospitality House, is crucial," he said.

According to Kus Endarto, the Special Region of Yogyakarta has had strong social capital in the form of a culture of hospitality that is widely known by tourists.

"Tourists know Yogyakarta for its hospitality, cleanliness, natural beauty, and comfort. Our challenge is to maintain these values. We must preserve the good memories they bring home," he said.

Through InJourney Hospitality House, InJourney Destination Management continues to promote a collaborative, inclusive, and sustainable tourism ecosystem. This program is expected to strengthen the capacity of the community as key tourism actors while enhancing the competitiveness of the heritage destination buffer zone around Prambanan.
