34th IOI Agenda: Steps of Indonesian Tourism Diplomacy

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko fully supports the 34th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2022 which will be held in Yogyakarta from 7-15 August 2022. This is done by preparing excellent services in the cultural heritage-based tourism areas that it manages.

In its work agenda, the 34th IOI participants from 65 on-site countries had the opportunity to visit PT TWC's leading destinations, including Keraton Ratu Boko and Ramayana Ballet Dance Open Air, Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta and the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park area, Magelang, Central Java.

Corporate Secretary of PT TWC AY Suhartanto said that since the beginning, his party has been in intense communication with the event committee to prepare the tourist destinations it manages. PT TWC is committed to supporting the IOI agenda as part of cultural and tourism diplomacy to become a magnet for visits and improve the regional economy.

"Of course, this is a golden opportunity to showcase the destination that we manage professionally to guests and delegates from various friendly countries. We are preparing the destination to appear prime and provide classy service. Hopefully, their visit here will leave an impression and they will come back later," he explained while attending the Closing Ceremony of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) at the Ramayana Ballet Dance Open Air, Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta, Sunday (14/8/2022).

Set against the grandeur of Prambanan Temple, the closing ceremony featured a performance that combined culture and video mapping technology that captivated participants from various countries. Participants in the world informatics competition enjoyed a colossal dance performance combined with video mapping that told the story of technological developments from prehistoric times to the present. Participants were able to witness technological developments and innovations that have contributed to improving the quality of human life.

In the implementation of the 34th IOI, in addition to holding academic contests and meetings, all participants also took cultural excursions to various cultural tourism destinations around Yogyakarta. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) of the Republic of Indonesia Muhadjir Effendy said that IOI could be a vehicle for Indonesian cultural diplomacy to the delegates who attended.

"The delegation was invited to get to know the diversity of Indonesian culture with various activities, batik training, dancing traditional dances to visits to cultural centers in DI Yogyakarta. This experience can introduce and strengthen the spirit of diversity in Indonesia," explained Muhadjir Effendy in his speech.

The 34th IOI with the theme Digital Energy of Asia is a form of support for the realization of society 5.0, where digital technology will be very close to human life and developed as much as possible for the welfare of life.

Present at the closing ceremony were the Hungarian Ambassador to Indonesia Lilla Karsay, Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Suharti, President Commissioner of InJourney Triawan Munaf, President of IOI Benjamin Burton and General Assembly Chairwomen of IOI Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Hayu.
