Inviting Family to Prambanan Temple, President Joko Widodo Promotes Educational Tourism
Prambanan Temple is one of the domestic tourist destinations that can be an alternative vacation for the community. The grandeur of Prambanan Temple as one of Indonesia's historical values is an attraction for people to come to visit. Tourism activities that are packaged with educational and recreational values are a fun and unforgettable experience.
The same thing was echoed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo through the regional government to promote domestic tourism because of its great potential. Together with Mrs. Iriana Joko Widodo and accompanied by his eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka and family, President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo spent the weekend at Prambanan Temple, Saturday (7/1).
Guided by Mrs. Manggar Sari, Head of the Cultural Preservation Center Region X of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, the three grandchildren of President Joko Widodo were enthusiastic in learning about history through the stories behind the reliefs of Prambanan Temple. They toured the temple area which, according to the Siwagrha inscription, was built in 850 AD by the king of Ancient Mataram, Rakai Pikatan.
Educational tourism is one of the main values embedded in quality tourism. Tourism is not only used as a medium of entertainment, but also to recognize the noble values of the nation's culture. This effort is one of the efforts to help revive Indonesian tourism.
