Building Livable Houses in the Borobudur Area PT TWC Grows with the Community

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (TWC) renovated Uninhabitable Houses (RTLH) in Giripurno Village, Borobudur District, Magelang, Central Java. The RTLH development program for the community around this destination is a form of Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) that implements the values of Sustainable Development (SDG) to participate in poverty alleviation in the community.

Director of Operations and Infrastructure Development of PT TWC Mardijono Nugroho accompanied by General Manager of Borobudur Jamaludin Mawardi, and TJSL and SME Funding Manager Ismiyati symbolically handed over a Livable House (RLH) to Andri Manto (30 years old) as the homeowner at the inauguration of the construction of a Livable House in Miri Ombo Hamlet, Giripurno Village, Borobudur, Friday (13/10/2023).

The construction of a Decent Home for Andri Manto's family is a Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program which is a synergy between PT TWC and the Giripurno Village Government and is fully supported by the surrounding community. This collaboration between various parties is a form of intensive cooperation in an effort to eradicate poverty, especially in the process of providing decent, clean, comfortable housing for families.

"The development of RLH is a form of good cooperation to jointly eradicate poverty in the Borobudur area. As a BUMN, we have an obligation to grow together with the community, pay attention to the problems of residents and try to find solutions together. We are sure that with the cooperation and collaboration of various parties, Borobudur will grow and develop into a prosperous area," explained Director of Operations and Infrastructure Development of PT TWC Mardijono Nugroho.

The homeowner, Andri Manto, described the condition of his house which did not have permanent walls so it was vulnerable to collapse, did not have proper and clean sanitation, and still had a dirt floor. The bricklayer lived in the house inherited from his parents with his wife and two children.

"Having a house like this is like a dream. The children feel comfortable at home and no longer need to be afraid when it rains. Hopefully, this program from TWC can continue to run and be as useful as possible," explained Andri Manto.

Representative from Borobudur District, Erna Mulyati said that the construction of this Decent House has an impact on the health conditions of the family members who live there. Moreover, Andri Manto's family is included in the stunting risk family from Giripurno Village, in Borobudur District.

"In Giripurno Village, there are several families with stunting or families at risk of stunting who need to be worked on together to get out of this status. One way is through the provision of clean and habitable houses. Hopefully, assistance like this can continue to run appropriately, appropriately and on target," he explained.

Giripurno Village Head Pujowadi said that one of the factors causing stunting is parenting patterns. According to him, parents who have a lot of economic burdens, especially for food, clothing and shelter, need to be supported through various supporting programs, both from the village government, district, BUMN and private sector.

"Through this Livable House assistance, Andri Manto's family, who is included in the family vulnerable to stunting, has been provided for from the condition of his house. So, Mr. Andri can focus on earning a living to improve the health of his family and his child's school. This assistance also has an impact on resolving stunting cases in our village area," he concluded.
