Moving Together for the Victims of the Sumatra Disaster

InJourney Destination Management also cares for the victims of the Sumatra hydrometeorological disaster by distributing humanitarian aid to disaster-affected communities in various affected areas.

The aid is the result of fundraising from the Board of Directors and all InJourney Destination Management staff. This assistance is then provided in various forms to assist the recovery of the affected communities.

IDM's concrete action also included deploying a team of company volunteers to assist with post-disaster recovery. Two teams were sent to Aceh Tamiang to assist with the recovery process, including cleaning up key community facilities and infrastructure and providing trauma healing for children.

"This assistance demonstrates our shared concern and commitment to helping the recovery of communities facing difficult times due to the flooding. We hope this support can expedite the recovery process in affected areas," explained IDM Operations Director Indung Purwita Jati while sending off the second batch of IDM volunteers at the IDM Headquarters Hall in Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Friday (January 9, 2026).

In the first batch, IDM volunteers distributed aid to Pante Kera Village, Simpang Jernih District, East Aceh Regency. The volunteer team traveled by boat for an eight-hour round trip.

Together with a team of volunteers from the InJourney Group, they worked together to clean the Special Needs School for Children (SLB Negeri Pembina Aceh Tamiang). The thick muddy conditions of the school made it quite difficult for the team to clean.

Meanwhile, the second batch of IDM volunteer teams focused on distributing aid in Lintang City, Kota Kuala Simpang District , Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province. The assistance provided included installing water filters, drilling wells, normalizing footbaths and septic tanks , and cleaning public facilities such as mosques, kindergartens, and Quran houses.

In addition, volunteers also provide trauma healing services in Tampur Paloh in Simpang Jernih District, East Aceh Regency, Aceh Province, Indonesia.

"It's caring that drives recovery. We hope this joint effort can ease the burden on our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster. Hopefully, this will strengthen them during this difficult time," he explained.

IDM is committed to providing tangible benefits to the wider community. We hope this assistance will bring benefits and new hope to our brothers and sisters in Sumatra.
