Nusantara Catwalk Set in Prambanan Temple, Fostering Love for Indonesian Arts and Culture

To celebrate the 78th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day (HUT RI), PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (TWC) presented the Nusantara Catwalk event in the concourse area of the Prambanan Temple Tourism Park destination on Thursday, August 17, 2023. This event was presented as a means of supporting the advancement of Indonesian textiles and as a manifestation of love and pride in Indonesian arts and culture.

This program was realized thanks to the cooperation and collaboration between PT TWC and the Indonesian Fashion Designer Entrepreneurs Association (APPMI) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). This action was presented to color the Red and White Excitement at the World Cultural Heritage destination.

The Red and White celebrations through the Nusantara Catwalk event involved 14 fashion designers from Yogyakarta. These designers presented their best works to be displayed at the Prambanan Temple complex.

Several models presented creations from various designers. They walked down the catwalk against the backdrop of Prambanan Temple. The splendor of Indonesia's largest Hindu temple, combined with modern, traditional-inspired fashion, created an elegant combination.

PT TWC's Marketing, Service, and Business Development Director, Hetty Herawati, stated that the Nusantara Catwalk marks the first step in collaborating with fashion designers to showcase their work at the Taman Wisata Candi (Temple Park) destination. Furthermore, the Nusantara Catwalk is also expected to foster a love of Indonesian textiles.

" This Nusantara Catwalk is an effort to combine cultural heritage destinations with the richness of Indonesian textiles in a single performance, simple yet meaningful. Furthermore, this event, held on Indonesian Independence Day, can be a unique experience to strengthen our love for our country and nation," he explained.

Sugeng Waskito, Chairman of the Indonesian Fashion Designers and Entrepreneurs Association (APPMI) Yogyakarta, fully supports this collaboration. As one of the designers, the Nusantara Catwalk show was a special stage, with the magnificent Prambanan Temple as its backdrop.

"We, along with APPMI members, are certainly happy to be able to participate in enlivening the commemoration of Indonesian Independence. Hopefully, in the future this can continue, using other destinations," he explained.

PT TWC is also promoting the #pakaiannusantara campaign for tourists visiting PT TWC destinations. This campaign aims to raise awareness of the richness of Indonesian textiles. This richness, rooted in the socio-cultural traditions of the Indonesian people, embodies creativity, work, and initiative, and is one of Indonesia's unique treasures.

PT TWC, as Indonesia Heritage Management, is fully committed to the sustainable and high-quality management of heritage and cultural destinations , aiming to create inspiring, attractive, and educational destinations. Through the Semarak Merah Putih (Red and White) program, tourists can joyfully celebrate Independence Day and experience the spirit of patriotism at this leading Indonesian cultural heritage destination.
