The story begins with the defeat of King Damarmoyo by King Boko, the father of Princess Roro Jonggrang. King Damarmoyo told his son, Bandung, about this defeat. Bandung, who was angry, challenged King Boko to a war and he finally defeated King Boko. At that time Bandung saw a beautiful princess named Roro Jonggrang and he fell in love with her. But after Roro Jonggrang knew that Bandung killed her father, she then had an evil intention to trick Bandung into building 1000 temples if he wanted to marry her.
Here the problem begins, Bandung who was helped by Bondowoso and the ghost army failed to complete the 1000 temples. Because Princess Roro Jonggrang tricked him, Bandung Bondowoso cursed Jonggrang to become a statue as the last 1000 temples.
