Developing Local Hospitality through IHH Sambirejo Prambanan Sleman Training
InJourney Destination Management, in collaboration with InJourney Airport, is presenting InJourney Hospitality House (IHH) training for tourism activists and MSMEs in the Prambanan area of Sleman, Yogyakarta. This training prepares participants to welcome tourists with authentic Indonesian hospitality, a foundation for implementing excellent service and achieving quality tourism.
The three-day training, from August 5–7, 2025, was attended by 120 participants, consisting of tourism activists and MSMEs in the Prambanan area, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Held at the Sambirejo Village Hall in Prambanan, the participants received several training materials, including how to behave and effective communication in service (hospitality communication ).
InJourney Destination Management Corporate Secretary Destantiana Nurina stated that the third batch of training in 2025 was made possible through a collaboration between IDM and InJourney Airports at Yogyakarta International Airport. She hopes this training will enhance the skills of travelers, enabling them to leave a positive impression on their destinations and the businesses they manage.
"Hopefully, this training will provide better service to guests and visitors, so they'll return, leaving behind lasting impressions and memories, thanks to the excellent service, clean restrooms, and how to market their wares. We are ready to support the entire community surrounding the destination. Hopefully, this training will further enhance our hospitality skills and knowledge," he explained.
Kus Endarto, Head of Marketing at the Sleman Tourism Office, stated that the Sambirejo area, in particular, and Prambanan in general, are national priority destinations and strategic tourism areas in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province. The village, home to several attractions, including Ijo Temple, Breksi Cliff, and the Gupolo Statue, will become even more popular with the opening of access routes connecting Sleman and Gunungkidul via Sambirejo.
"As the roads improve, the challenge for us is to encourage people to stop by, not just pass by. The easiest way to do this is to improve our hospitality . Good memories will keep people coming back," he explained.
Wahyu Nugroho, the village head of Sambirejo, Prambanan, Sleman, stated that Sambirejo has a very high tourist traffic, especially those operated by jeep tours. He delegated various organizations in his village to the IHH training, including the jeep tour community, village-owned enterprise (BUMDes), youth organizations (Karang Taruna), Prima Village, Tourism Village, and Tourism Group (Pokdarwis).
Through this training, he hopes to improve assistance to tourists who ride jeeps , so that they are safe, comfortable and so that they will come back again.
"This training is much needed for tourism managers. Especially in our communication skills, excellent service when handing out entrance tickets, directing parking, showing where the restrooms, prayer rooms, and dining areas demonstrate excellent service. This process creates momentum for improvement, greater competence, and greater joy," he explained.
