Strategic Collaboration of the Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy & TMII Supports the Development of Innovations in the Promotion of Indonesian Culture

The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenekraf) encourages strategic collaboration to encourage innovation of the nation's children. This was achieved by Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) by establishing strategic collaboration with Kemenekraf to create innovative programs in TMII as a window of Indonesian culture.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Wamenekraf) Irene Umar received an audience with TMII President Director Intan Ayu Kartika at the Sapta Pesona Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (14/1/2025). In this meeting, the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia said that this collaborative effort aims to maintain TMII's identity as an icon of Indonesian culture while strengthening its appeal to visiting tourists.

"This collaboration certainly combines Indonesian culture to maintain TMII's identity. With the touch of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah is expected to truly maintain its identity. Therefore, I suggest that the special Pokémon Go event at TMII use batik," said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene.

TMII President Director, Intan Ayu Kartika, revealed that TMII and the Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy have agreed to establish five main programs for this year, including the Pokémon event, Timun Village, Regional Pavilion, Craft Store , and Nusantara Foodcourt .

"We believe that the Ministry of Creative Economy and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah will form a collaboration that is truly passionate about bringing out culture, preserving Indonesian culture," said Intan Ayu Kartika.

Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology, Muhammad Neil El Himam, emphasized that TMII can become a national icon of Indonesian branding while introducing the richness of Nusantara culture to the world. 

"This time we have to start thinking, Taman Mini becomes a national brand of Indonesia. Hopefully, foreigners are interested in Indonesia because there is TMII," explained Neil.

In this collaboration, TMII will also utilize digital technology to increase its visibility at the global level. 

"With strategic synergy with the Ministry of Creative Economy, TMII is expected to be able to become a showcase of Nusantara culture that is known worldwide," he continued.

TMII Product Development Manager Eric Lesmana added that these programs will include innovative initiatives such as TMII Photography, UMKM Kriya, Culinary, and others. This step aims to integrate 17 creative economy sub-sectors into a stronger TMII concept culturally. 

"We hope this collaboration will continue. The potential of this collaboration is very large, because it is time to return to the spirit of TMII which is strong in its culture," said Eric.

Through this collaboration, TMII is expected to further strengthen its role as a center for cultural preservation, support the creative economy, and introduce Indonesia's cultural richness to the world.
