TWC Cooperative's Transformative Steps to Develop F&B Business
PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko is pushing the transformation and modernization agenda in each of its business lines. This also affects the performance of the Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) Employee Cooperative (Kopkar) which also develops its business lines to face future challenges.
PT TWC President Director Edy Setijono, along with PT TWC Corporate Secretary AY Suhartanto and the Chairman of the TWC Employee Cooperative, Saryana, inaugurated the Space Cooperative "Kspace," a new Food & Beverage business located at TWC's Head Office in Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Friday (July 22, 2022). As a token of gratitude, the launch of Kspace was accompanied by the distribution of donations to the Yapitu Orphanage in Bantul and Al Barokah in Sleman, Yogyakarta.
The opening of Kspace, located west of the Prambanan Ramayana Theater & Stage, will revitalize the culinary scene in East Yogyakarta, home to numerous tourist destinations. Kspace is a coworking space with modern architecture, featuring indoor and outdoor spaces, and a rooftop area perfect for enjoying the afternoon sun.
Kspace is suitable for workers who implement flexible and relaxed work. Kspace also provides a cafe-style drink menu made from coffee and fast food. In addition, Kspace is equipped with fast wifi facilities to support activities in cyberspace.
"Kspace presents a coworking space to support the growing and developing needs for flexibility, mobility and work comfort. In addition, Kspace is also proof that cooperatives can continue to grow, both in terms of business and also the development of the cooperative's vision in the future," explained the Head of the TWC Employee Cooperative, Saryana, at the inauguration of Kspace, Friday (22/7/2022).
This Space Cooperative is a form of cooperation between PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko and the Taman Wisata Candi Employee Cooperative (TWC). Here, PT TWC provides supporting land, while Kopkar TWC acts as the investing party. The cooperative's contribution to TWC is in the form of profit sharing or profit sharing from the agreed land lease.
In its work agenda, Kopkar TWC also applies collaborative values in developing its business. This is done by collaborating with several parties, such as cooperation with Pertamina for the procurement of Pertashop, Wifi Corner in collaboration with Telkom Indonesia and cooperation with Grab Jogja as the formation of Grab Station points in the Prambanan area, Sleman. In addition, Kopkar TWC also collaborates with Indogrosir for the procurement of its modern retail store network.
"In the future, we will develop this kind of business model outside the Taman Wisata Candi area. We have planned to open an outlet near TWC Ratu Boko and one outlet at TWC in Borobudur. In addition, we are developing a subsidiary of PT Hita Gemilang Jaya to escalate the cooperative's income which will later be returned and enjoyed by all cooperative members," he continued.
President Director of PT TWC Edy Setijono appreciated the steps taken by Kopkar TWC to expand this business. According to him, this strategic step must be accompanied by a new concept of understanding for members so that they can grow side by side so that they can support each other.
"We hope that the challenges ahead can be understood with adjustments. Breakthroughs are needed as well as making efforts to gain new understanding for members. This will later foster a new perspective, which can trigger members to contribute," he said.
Kopkar TWC is a cooperative whose members are employees of PT TWC. Currently, Kopkar TWC has several business units located in the PT TWC work environment, such as savings and loans, souvenirs, electric-based tourist vehicles, and printing. Through this Kspace, Kopkar TWC is expanding into the F&B business with a wider market share.
"I think this is a step forward that we should appreciate, but this must also be followed by professional management. In the business unit, it must optimize revenue. While cooperative activities focus on the welfare of its members," he concluded.
