Work Safety and Preparedness Training at Borobudur Art Village

Ensuring the safety and health of workers is the responsibility of all parties. Efforts to prevent work accidents that impact the safety of workers and losses that will be experienced by the company are expected to mitigate the risks that arise in the work environment.

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko, also known as InJourney Destination Management (IDM), in collaboration with the Magelang Regency Fire Department, Central Java, held a refresher course on fire prevention and disaster management in the Borobudur Art Village (KSB) area in Magelang on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. The intensive training was attended by TWC Unit Borobudur employees and security officers in the Borobudur Art Village area.

Operation & HSSE Group Head IDM Leonardus Adityo Nugroho said that the initial training on early fire handling in KSB was part of refreshing and building a strong K3 culture in the Borobudur Tourism Park destination work environment. 

"Borobudur Art Village is something new for us, because of the multi-storey building structure. Usually, we only take care of first-floor buildings such as unit offices or museum buildings. Of course, this is a special concern for us to prepare for mitigation," he explained.

This training is expected to train skills and awareness of the importance of safety and security in dealing with fires.

" Refresher training trains us to be more vigilant. This is not something that is impossible. I hope everyone will pay close attention so that the material provided can be implemented effectively in the field. We hope that with this preparedness, we can prevent these fires," he continued.

The training consists of theory and practice guided directly by the Head of the Technical Implementation Unit for Fire Handling of Magelang Regency, Edy Priyanta. He hopes that through this training there will be a close synergy, especially to ensure the security and safety of tourists in Borobudur.

"Hopefully there will be synergy between the Borobudur Tourism Park and the Magelang Regency Fire Department if something happens, a fire and rescue can complement each other and work together, so that the security and safety of visitors to the Borobudur Tourism Park are realized and guaranteed," explained Edy Priyanta.

Participants received materials related to how the fire process spreads and how to minimize the damage it causes. Participants also practiced extinguishing small-scale fires with traditional extinguishing equipment, including using towels dampened with water and also more modern extinguishing equipment such as Light Fire Extinguishers (APAR).

Meanwhile, Borobudur Administration Division Head Agus Tri Anggono said that this basic training activity will continue along with the ongoing operational challenges of the service. This is expected to be followed by all employees to be more concerned about safety in the work environment.

"This is basic training that really needs to be addressed and given attention in connection with the new KSB building. This has indeed become a standardization in TWB which has become an agenda for these trainings to be held continuously. We hope that all employees will actively move to mitigate disasters in the work environment," he concluded.
