PT TWC Encourages Growth of Quality Tourism Ecosystem
The sustainable tourism paradigm emphasizes the development of a tourism concept that has long-term impacts, both environmental, social, cultural, and economic, on the community in the area. This sustainable tourism trend pays attention to comfort, environmental sustainability and its impact on the wider community.
This is what PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (PT TWC) is trying to do as the manager of the world cultural heritage destination. In developing its destination, PT TWC relies on 4 pillars of management, namely conservation, spiritual, education and tourism. This is in line with efforts to develop quality tourism in the destination.
"PT TWC, which is currently in the InJourney tourism ecosystem, is concerned with developing quality tourism. This is in line with the changing paradigm of Borobudur Temple and Prambanan Temple, not just dead monuments but living monuments," explained PT TWC's Director of Operations and Infrastructure Development Mardijono Nugroho at the Destination Management Forum (DMF) held by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, in Yogyakarta, Thursday (9/3/2023).
Through the theme of Strengthening Tourism Governance and Stakeholder Program for Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) Borobudur, this forum is expected to help develop competitive and sustainable tourism destinations.
This is in accordance with PT TWC's steps in developing the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park destination in Magelang, Central Java. Efforts to realize sustainable tourism are carried out by building Borobudur's role of leadership, namely, act locally, think globally, ecosystem, collaboration, stakeholder management and exploration.
"Building Borobudur means talking about governance related to zoning and its functions. This is the basis for building good governance. PT TWC in terms of supporting efforts to build a harmonious ecosystem for sustainable quality tourism," he continued.

Head of the Yogyakarta Special Region Tourism Office, Singgih Raharjo, said that DIY itself is currently continuing to strive to realize sustainable and inclusive tourism for everyone. DIY realizes that the presence of tourism is expected to be an added value to the community's economy, and not the other way around.
"The presence of tourism should not make the community not harmonious. We also build inclusive tourism for everyone. Our job is to keep tourists in Jogja longer and spend their money. In addition, the development of destinations in five districts/cities to equalize regional welfare," he concluded.
