PT TWC ENCOURAGES SLEMAN FARMERS TO PIONEER HEALTHY RICE CULTIVATION

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) through the Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) program provides assistance in organic plant cultivation in Jongkangan Hamlet, Taman Martani, Kalasan, Sleman. The results of this cultivation were celebrated by holding a Healthy Rice Harvest with the Ngudi Makmur farmer group and the community, Wednesday (23/12/2020).

The organic plant cultivation assistance program is an effort to develop local resource-based agriculture to improve the economic level of the surrounding community. This program is implemented as a form of PT TWC's concern for improving the welfare of the community, especially in Jongkangan Hamlet, Kalasan.

"The hope for the future is that farmers in Jongkangan Hamlet will be organic plant producers who can supply their healthy products to other cities and regions along with the changing lifestyle of residents who prioritize healthier and guaranteed product quality," explained PT TWC TJSL Manager Bambang Sarwo Eddy in his speech when opening this activity.

This joint harvest began with a wiwitan ceremony led directly by village elder Hardi Suharto. "The purpose of this ceremony is to express gratitude for the abundant harvest and good fortune for the future. This ceremony has been going on since the ancestors and is still preserved to this day," explained Mbah Hardi.

The assistance began with planting IR 64 rice on 1,2 hectares of land owned by members of the Ngudi Makmur farmer group with a planting period of 85 days. The goal is to form a food security area in accordance with the goals of Sustainable Development in the social sector which include poverty eradication, hunger eradication, health and improving welfare.
