PT TWC Supports Waste Management Synergy in the Borobudur Super Priority Tourism Destination Area

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) supports the program of President Joko Widodo to prepare Borobudur as a premium tourist destination in the country. One of the things that is done is by tackling the problem of waste in the Borobudur Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) area.

This effort is realized through the optimization of the Reduce , Reuse , and Recycle Waste Processing Facility (TPS3R) at the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park (TWC) and at the TPS 3R in the Borobudur area. The TPS3R optimization aims to reduce potential waste disposal problems in Borobudur and Magelang in general.

PT TWC together with the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, the Environmental Service (DLH) of Magelang Regency, CBT Nusantara and 13 Village Governments in the Borobudur area signed an MoU on waste management in the Borobudur DPSP area on Tuesday (11/16/2021).

The event, which took place at the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park complex, was attended directly by the Deputy Secretary for Tourism and Creative Economy of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia Rustam Efendi and the Director of Engineering and Infrastructure of PT TWC Mardijono Nugroho and the Head of the DLH Service of Magelang Regency Safrudin.

This waste management synergy collaboration aims to reduce the volume of waste in the Borobudur area. The MoU on waste management outlines four commitments as shared goals: environmental quality improvement, social development , and economic development.

In addition, waste management with the 3R concept prioritizes waste management that is oriented towards preventing waste generation, minimizing waste by recycling goods so that they can be reused.

"The implementation of 3R not only encourages changes in attitudes and mindsets of the community that are environmentally friendly and sustainable, but also involves proper management in its implementation. This is a common goal for the future in minimizing waste problems in Borobudur," explained Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Mardijono Nugroho.

PT TWC carries out several activities to reactivate waste management in zone II Borobudur, such as synergizing with the Environmental Service (DLH) and the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) of Magelang Regency in waste management.

In addition, PT TWC also synergizes with the Borobudur Conservation Center (BKB) in implementing the cleanliness management pattern in Borobudur. PT TWC also collaborates with CBT Nusantara to innovate the manufacture of 7-day compost fertilizer.

PT TWC hopes that through this collaboration, waste management can become one of the activities that can drive the economy in the Borobudur area.
