PT TWC Collaborates with Bumdesma and Dekranasda Magelang to Empower the Borobudur Community
PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (PT TWC) together with the Joint Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDesma) "Borobudur Manunggaling Rasa" and the National Craft Council of Magelang Regency signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Provision of Supporting Facilities for Borobudur Temple Tourists as well as in the context of Community Empowerment in the Borobudur Temple Area, Monday (20/3/2023).
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was carried out directly by the Director of Operations and Infrastructure Development of PT TWC Mardijono Nugroho, Chairperson of the Magelang Regency Dekranasda, Christanti Zaenal Arifin and Chairperson of the Borobudur BUMDesma Manunggaling Rasa Noeryanto, at the Manohara Borobudur Study Center, Magelang, Central Java.
In his remarks, the Director of Operations and Infrastructure Development of PT TWC said that PT TWC received a special mandate from the Ministry of SOEs to build the Borobudur ecosystem through collaboration with the community and stakeholders around Borobudur.
"The spirit that we want to build is collaboration and exploration, considering that there are new Visitor Management regulatory values for visits to the Borobudur Temple monument, one of which is by using special footwear/Upanat," said Mardijono in his speech.
The management of the Borobudur Temple area as one of the Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) requires synergy between stakeholders not only in terms of tourism, but also in developing social and economic benefits for the surrounding area. Community empowerment is one of the priorities in the development of the Borobudur area ecosystem as a whole.
On that occasion, the Chairperson of Dekranasda Magelang Regency, Christanti Zaenal Arifin said that through the signing of this memorandum of understanding, it is in line with the vision and mission of Dekranasda Magelang Regency, namely empowering craftsmen in Magelang Regency from upstream to downstream. This was also welcomed, and it is hoped that it can have a positive impact on many parties.
"Various trainings have been carried out, one of which is related to Upanat, which involves 100 Upanat sandal craftsmen, with the aim of producing Upanat according to the established standards. Through this Memorandum of Understanding, it can accommodate all the interests of the parties, through synergy and collaboration of various parties, which is expected to bring benefits and positive impacts to the surrounding community environment." explained Christanti.
