Hundreds of Borobudur Traders Equipped with Hospitality Standards Ahead of Moving to Borobudur Art Village
Magelang, July 31, 2024 – As an effort to improve the quality of tourism in the Borobudur Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) area, PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (PT TWC) together with PT Angkasa Pura I (PT AP 1), a member of the InJourney Group held the 4th InJourney Hospitality House (IHH) in Borobudur, Magelang Regency. The program was specifically designed to reach thousands of traders in the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park area to ensure the readiness of human resources, products and services of MSMEs around the area to welcome millions of tourists at the new location which will be located in the Borobudur Art Village, in Kujon Hamlet not far from Borobudur Temple.
For three days, from 29 to 31 July 2024, as many as 120 traders from various sectors such as culinary, clothing, and souvenirs, received intensive training. This program is not only part of the revitalization of the Borobudur Art Market, but also as a comprehensive transformation step to create a quality and memorable tourism experience for domestic and foreign tourists.
InJourney Hospitality House is a manifestation of PT TWC and PT AP I's commitment to providing access to enhanced skills in Indonesian hospitality and service. With the support of professional trainers, this program is designed to broaden traders' understanding of excellent service standards, including effective communication and the friendly demeanor that has long been a hallmark of Indonesian hospitality.
"During these three days, participants were provided with new insights about hospitality, from how to greet to how to behave. We hope that this experience will enrich their understanding of the importance of excellent service and that all business actors in the Borobudur Temple area will be well standardized as a support for improving the quality of infrastructure that continues to be improved," said Corporate Secretary of PT TWC, Ryan Eka Permana Sakti (Sakti). Stakeholder Relation Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), Ike Yutiane, added, "As part of the aviation and tourism ecosystem, we are committed to supporting the revival of the tourism sector in Borobudur through sustainable empowerment and training programs. We hope that this program will encourage an increase in tourist visits by presenting Indonesian hospitality that is typical of Borobudur. In addition to ensuring easy and enjoyable connectivity and experiences can be realized."
One of the participants, Ngumroyati (38 years old), admitted that the material presented by the InJourney Hospitality House training could improve her ability to serve tourists better. The batik seller since 2008 in the Borobudur Temple area hopes that training to improve the abilities of tourism actors in the Borobudur area will continue to be carried out and improved, to encourage more advanced tourism activities.
"We have never received materials and programs like this, where we get knowledge such as good service, positive attitude, how to communicate effectively, how to serve visitors, how to sell good merchandise. In the future, we need more training like this," he explained.
IHH is not just a training, but a leading initiative that aims to build a sustainable and quality tourism ecosystem in the region. The main focus is on increasing the capacity of human resources to support the welfare of local communities and advance Indonesian tourism.
"Tourism clearly plays a key role in improving the Indonesian economy. Through this program, it is hoped that every tourist will get an unforgettable experience and support sustainable tourism, want to spread good testimonials so that later people will want to visit Indonesia, especially Borobudur," added Sakti.
