Buddhists Hold Borobudur Mandala Puja Ritual

Dozens of Buddhists participate in the Mandala Puja Borobudur ceremony in the main area of Borobudur Temple, Friday (26/2/2021). The ceremony, which was held while still implementing health protocols, was carried out as a form of support for efforts to make Borobudur a pilgrimage site for Buddhists worldwide.

This was conveyed directly by Bhante Ditthisampanno who led the Mandala Puja Borobudur service. "This activity is the initial activity that we do to welcome and support Borobudur Temple as one of the places of worship for Buddhists around the world," he said.

The Head of the Association of Indonesian Buddhist Colleges also asked the management, both the Borobudur Conservation Center and PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko (Persero) as the manager of zone II to facilitate Buddhists who want to perform worship at Borobudur Temple. His party is also willing to cooperate in compiling the correct pilgrimage procedures at Borobudur Temple.

"For pilgrimages not on the temple. We respect the temple as a spiritual site. Only Pradaksina around the temple. Maybe we can be facilitated in one area that does not disturb temple visitors," he continued.

The group praying together with Mandala Puja Borobudur this time came from academics of the Buddhist College in Central Java. The ritual of praying together began by chanting the praise of Parita Suci. Next, by lining up they headed to Borobudur Temple to perform Pradaksina or circle the temple clockwise three times.

Meanwhile, PT TWC as the manager of zone II of the Borobudur Temple area fully supports this religious ritual.

"We are very supportive. We hope that this activity can continue to be implemented," said General Manager of PT TWC Unit Borobudur I Gusti Putu Ngurah Sedana.

As is known, PT TWC has held many events that have involved Buddhists, both in Indonesia and abroad.

"Before this, we together with BKB have been involved in many processions such as Waisak and other religious processions. We are very supportive. We also hope that after the ritual is finished, participants can visit the facilities at TWC Borobudur, such as the museum, Bukit Dagi, Manohara Resto and others," concluded Putu.
